What is endodontic care?
Endodontic care focuses on treating the inside of the tooth — most commonly through root canal therapy. At VFD Innovative Dental, our team provides comprehensive endodontic services in-house so patients don’t have to be referred out to another office. With the help of advanced technology, including our in-office endodontic microscope, we can deliver precise care for even the most complex root canal cases. Whether you're dealing with lingering pain or sensitivity, our goal is to resolve your discomfort and support long-term oral health using techniques that prioritize comfort, precision, and lasting relief.

The endodontic care process
Diagnosis and CBCT imaging
We begin with a comprehensive evaluation — including 3D CBCT imaging — to assess symptoms and precisely identify the root cause of your discomfort. This high-resolution scan gives us a full view of the area, ensuring we plan your treatment with accuracy and clarity from the start.
Comfort-first preparation
Once a root canal is recommended, we prepare the area with local anesthesia to ensure your comfort every step of the way. If you’re feeling anxious, we also offer sedation options to help you relax during treatment.
Precise root canal therapy
Using the endodontic microscope, your dentist will access the inner chamber of the tooth, remove the infected or damaged tissue, and thoroughly clean and disinfect the area. The space is then sealed to prevent future infection.
Restoring your tooth
After the procedure, we restore your tooth’s strength and function with either a filling or a crown. For many patients, this is completed the same day thanks to our in-house CEREC technology and milling system.
Frequently asked questions
In many cases, yes. Thanks to our onsite microscope and CEREC technology, we can often complete root canal therapy and restore your tooth with a permanent crown in the same day. In some cases, especially more complex infections, a second visit may be required for complete healing and restoration.
If you’re experiencing lingering sensitivity to hot or cold, pain when chewing, swelling around a tooth, or darkening of the tooth, it could be a sign of infection. Our team will perform diagnostics and imaging to determine whether a root canal or other endodontic treatment is needed.
Modern root canals are far more comfortable than most people expect. Local anesthesia completely numbs the area, and we also offer sedation options if you're especially nervous. Most patients say the procedure is no more uncomfortable than getting a filling.
